What is the difference between the soul and the spirit? Do you feed the soul or the spirit?
This became clear to me when I evaluated which one I get to keep when I leave my physical body. I keep my spirit. That is the form that I will return to when I no longer dwell in my physical body here on earth.
The spirit is our energetic self that is our connection to God. We were a spirit before we were born and we will become a spirit again once we transition. Plain and simple. The spirit is free without worry, fear, or any negative thoughts. It is pure light.
The soul is our life contract to experience certain events in life. It is our personality type and drives our choices as predetermined by our soul contract. As mentioned in previous blog posts, our soul contract is what we, on a soul level, have agreed to experience while our spirit travels the earth in our physical body. Your soul contract is set. It can be altered by the evolution of your spirit. Uplift your spirit and the events of your soul contract can be experienced with ease. When you do not feed your spirit, the events of your soul contract are much harder.
Spirit →Soul → Human Form → Spirit
So the spirit is our energy, the oneness with God. The closer we are to God, the less fear, anxiety, depression, and worry we have because we are living more in the light of our spiritual realm. What this means to our soul’s experience here on earth is that the more we are in tune with our spiritual self, the easier we can handle the soul’s experiences.
Think about what uplifts your spirit? Freedom, laughter, love, admiration, appreciation, excitement, peace, passion, etc.
Why does this matter? This matters because life doesn’t always go as we want or as we expected. If we are living in spiritual fulfillment, our soul can handle life’s experiences well. If our spiritual fulfillment is minimal, our soul will suffer just the same and it will feel like life is just not going how we want. So, first and foremost, keep your spirit uplifted, feed your soul second. Pastor T.D. Jakes said everyone needs to date themselves. Get to know what lifts you up and pulls you down. Live in an elevated, illuminated state of being.

Voyage to HEAL Weekly Task
Stretch: The sacrum is the base of our Chakras and the seat of the Kundalini. In Yoga, the Kundalini is the seat of our creative life force. For more information on the Kundalini, visit http://www.kundaliniguide.com/what-is-kundalini
We are going to sit for this week’s stretch. Then, begin to move your trunk in a circular motion first to the right and then to the left. Move at least 10 times in each direction envisioning energy flowing up your spine from your tailbone to your head. Then sit perfectly still and feel the energy rise up as you envision what you would do if you were a spirit. As you do this, you may feel your body begin to move or unwind. Go with it. Spread your arms and feel what it would be like to be in spirit form.
Exercise: Spread your arms out to the side and slowly flap them forward and back for 1 minute 3x/day. How big you flap your arms is up to you. Maybe you just sore, holding your arms out to the side. Do what feels right for you. Remember to breathe as you do this.
Habitual Correction: As you walk along this earth, make sure you do so in good, supportive, and comfortable shoes. Check your shoe’s wear pattern. If it is too worn down on one side, consider getting a new pair. An inexpensive pair of shoes is far better than an expensive pair that is completely worn down in one place. Â
Perspective Enlightenment: I dedicate myself to lift my spirit up to carry my soul along its journey here on earth.
Journal option: If I were a spirit here on earth, what would I do?
This week’s blog post coincides with week 9 of the Voyage to HEAL, God’s plan. I encourage you to listen to these meditations as you hold the stretch. I would love your thoughts on this post and how you view the soul and the spirit. This is a time of immense spiritual growth for me which means I am eager to learn and share ideas. Please feel free to comment in the space below.
Godspeed on your Voyage to HEAL learning Healthy Everyday Activities for Life.
