God has a plan. God’s plan is very simple. God wants you to be happy. Part of life’s journey is the follow the advice God gives you through so many messages and learning more about yourself so that you can find what makes you happy. God doesn’t specifically have a path laid out for you at birth that says you’ll be a doctor, lawyer, teacher, mother, taxi cab driver, welder, trainer, etc. God just dictates that you will find happiness if you listen and turn to God always. Nowhere at your birth were you sentenced to a hard life, an easy life, or meant to suffer. These events occur because we are being guided to what makes us happy and redirect us to get on the path that is right for each of us.
In the myofascial release world, we have a saying that I touched on in the last blog post and video. That saying is, “I give myself permission to try another way.” When things aren’t going as you want, try another way until you find the path that does work for you. Remember that the easy path isn’t necessarily the right path. When you want something you have to work for it and you make it happen. The key is learning from the hardships to direct you to what does make you happy. Then even when a goal is hard to accomplish, you can enjoy the journey.
There is a saying on our mantel that says “Happiness is the journey, not the destination.” The full quote is as follows:
“Happiness is a journey, not a destination;
happiness is to be found along the way, not at the end of the road,
for then the journey is over and it’s too late.
The time for happiness is today not tomorrow.”
– Paul H Dunn
What are you struggling with deciding right now? Write out the pros and cons. Keep that paper in front of you. Then do the following stretches asking for divine enlightenment telling you to let go and proceed forward or hold steady, now is not the time to make a move. Listen to your heart. God will give you the answer. It may not be what you want to hear, but you will get the answer you need.
Voyage to HEAL Weekly Task
* A special thank you to Julia Lamm of Be Well Fitness for the foot massaging tips and exercises. Check out our Zoom interview Here: Are You Aware of Your Feet. For more information, visit her website at www.julialamm.com.
Stretch: This week is all about the feet. (Watch the video at the end of the blog for a live version of this stretching series and meditation.)
Start by massaging your toes rolling them with your hand and pulling on the toes. If you are not able to reach your toes, use a water bottle, a rolled-up towel, or a small ball to massage the toes. Then hold this stretch. Roll a towel up and stand on it with one or two feet. Move your feet (foot) around until you find a nice point to stretch. Hold onto a sturdy object if needed. Look at your list as you hold this and think of the message in the perspective enlightenment.
Exercise: Lift up your big toe without lifting the other toes. You may need to help it at first and then hold it up. Do this 8x on each foot. Then try crunching your toes and straighten them 8x. If you get a foot cramp, know that this means the toes are weak. Keep working on this every day and eventually, those toes will not cramp.
*Please note that if you have back problems, this may affect your feet. Your back may be the source of the pain and weakness if the exercises do not seem to be helping. I say this so you don’t push through pain that needs to be resolved elsewhere.
Habitual change: Walk barefoot more often. Shoes are confining to the feet and pointy-toe shoes are a big no-no. Whenever possible, go barefoot even for a short period of time. If you have the option to walk barefoot in the grass, do it! This is great for the sensory input into your feet to help strengthen them.
Perspective Enlightenment: I open my heart to God’s plan for me to be happy.
