The Killer of Peace

The killer of peace is often time. I have a love/hate relationship with time. It is probably about the only thing that I really want more of because it goes by so quickly and never really feels like I have enough time. This is why I call time the killer of the flow of peace.

We rush events such as getting married, buying cars and houses, have children, and changing jobs, or growing a business. We place a lot of pressure on ourselves to achieve things in unreasonable amounts of time. Could it be that we even rush growing our kids up who are graduating high school with associate college degrees? We rush outcomes. Think of all the rush to get a vaccine out for COVID eliminating many of the regulated testings prior to releasing the vaccine because it was an emergency. It is not even FDA-approved. This vaccine was release not knowing the long-term side effects or how long the vaccine would be effective against COVID.

We also rush to get places. I find that I do this in the present day when I need to get myself or my kids somewhere at a certain time. I get really tense and start rushing them to get ready. Imagine if every morning I rush around to get out the door? What a horrible way to start the day! Plus, then I get frustrated at my kids as I project my fear about being late on them making them the cause of my rushing. Really, I am causing myself to rush rather than trust that God’s timing can be my timing.

The bottom line, we live in the future and not the present. This is a fear-based way of thinking living in lack. In this case, it is a lack of time creating a fear that we will lose out on something if we don’t act now!

I know that in my life, I have definitely placed unnecessary pressure on myself and others to get things done on my timing. This robs me of the flow of peace. When I drive, I try to trust that if I get stuck behind someone going slow or there is a traffic jam, maybe God is slowing me down to protect me from something up ahead. If I have a big decision to be made, I do my best to not make that decision until it feels right. If the opportunity passes, then it wasn’t meant to be.

Anytime that you are feeling pressured to make a major decision, don’t make a decision. If that doesn’t sit with you, make a decision and be content with it. Overall, let peace flow through you. Say to yourself, “I can find peace at this moment. I do not need to rush.” This will make your day and your life overall so much more pleasant.

With God present, fear does not exist and peace flows.

Voyage to HEAL Weekly Focus

Stretch:  The sacrum is our root of security. Fear will drive the sacral area of the spine to tense up. I often think of a scared dog tucking its tail. That’s what the tailbone and sacrum do when fear is strong in our minds. To soften this area either breathe deep into the sacrum or fold a washcloth into a square and sit on it. The washcloth should be right at your tailbone applying pressure up your spine. As you feel this area soften, say to yourself, “I am safe. I let go of any fear and trust that I am safe.”

Exercise: Activate your pelvic floor and core muscles as you find a set of stairs and walk up and down them for 5-10 minutes. This not only will give you a cardio workout, but if you are contemplating a decision, you are giving yourself time to clear your mind so you can hear and feel God’s guidance. I also created a video demonstrating the pelvic clock that would be wonderful to do if climbing stairs is not an option.

Habitual change: Let peace flow in your house by keeping all the things your use frequently in easy to reach places. Let go of the miscellaneous things in your home that you do not need and clutter your way.

Enlightened Perspective: Fear is not my guide. I allow peace to flow through me and the reassurance that God is here for me.

Journaling Option: Do you make decisions based on fear or faith that God is your guiding force? Think of major decisions you have made and find insight into why you chose what you did. Do you have faith that God will keep you safe or do you really on yourself and the external world to be the decision-making force in your life?

This week’s blog post directly correlates with week 2 of the Voyage to HEAL I am Safe. We are truly safe and should never be driven by fear. Let peace flow through you. Come start your Voyage to HEAL.

Godspeed on your Voyage to HEAL.

Love,

Jocelyn
