How Great Thou Art

There is no one greater than whom you claim to be. ~ your inner guide

I love the song How Great Thou Art. Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee, how great thou art, how great thou art! I love listening to all the accounts of the glory of God past, present, and to come. It comforts me in two ways. One, I know that God is the master of the universe and created all things on our behalf. Two, I know I am created in His image; therefore, I was created great, too!

The world can strip us of our true identity when we get caught in the web of labeling ourselves both by our roles in the world and our characteristics. Avoid spending time trapped in the ideals of this world, consumed by comparison. I want you to remember how great thou art! God did not make any mistakes in creating you, and he did not make mistakes in making anyone else either. So no labeling other people either! We are all his creation. There is no ugly, stupid, or worthless person created in God’s image. Ultimately, whether someone chooses to follow Christ or not, they are still a child of God created in Christ’s image.

No one is more holy than the next or more of a child of God than someone else. In the book of James, we learn not to have favorites. God does not have favorites. So quit trying to outdo someone. It doesn’t matter to God if you give more, do more, or are the “best”. God only asks us to love, serve, and praise Him. He is our Heavenly father. Let Him know how proud you are of his creation. He did GREAT!

How magnificent that feels to know you are GREAT! It gets even better! Because you have the Holy Spirit inside of you as well! According to Ephesians 4:12, 5:3, Romans 16.2, and First Corinthians 1:2, when you believe in Christ Jesus, you are part of the church of Christ, and you are a saint. That’s right! A saint is someone who has devoted their life to Christ. Devoting your life to Christ means that you walk the path through your faith and your deeds. Historically, in various religions, certain followers of Christ have received extra recognition for their contributions to the church, but remember that God doesn’t compare us. He loves us. It’s not how much we do or give but that we put our faith in Him, do everything for Him, and praise Him. Congratulations, you now know who you are in God’s image. (For a more in-depth explanation, visit https://www.gotquestions.org/saints-Christian.html . You are a saint. I already knew that, but I’m sure glad that you do now.

Job 12:7-10

“But ask the animals, and they will teach you,
    or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you;
or speak to the earth, and it will teach you,
or let the fish in the sea inform you.
Which of all these does not know
that the hand of the Lord has done this?
10 In his hand is the life of every creature
and the breath of all mankind.” NIV

Voyage to HEAL Weekly Task

Stretch: Grab your releaser ball and use it on your glute against the wall, sitting in a chair, lying on it in bed or on the floor. Find that glorious spot that is tighter than necessary and melt into the ball. Never use force a stretch, and also listen to your intuition if this stretch is not right for you. As you soften into the ball, let go of all fear that you are not enough. Thank God for making you so great and providing for all your needs, whether that is courage, strength, or peace, to endure the challenges of this world. God always provides for us.

Exercise: Get on all 4s and let’s wag your tail in the joy of knowing who you are! Activate your pelvic floor and core, and look over your shoulder at your hip. At the same time, bring your hip toward your gaze. Essentially, you are slowly wagging your bottom to the right and left, alternating your gaze as your bottom moves. “I’m happy to be me. Let me count the ways”.

Habitual Change: Catch those unnecessary thoughts that the devil puts in your head that you are not great. When depression, anger, anxiety, or jealousy invade your thoughts, you tell the devil to take a hike. This is God’s domain.

Perspective enlightenment: I am a saint. Thank you, God, for making me so great!

Journaling option: Write out all the labels you have given yourself. Write with a black sharpie, “I am a saint,” over all these labels. Put this anywhere you will see it and remember it.
